I’m not really sure what you would want to know…I am a female, married, 30s, Christian, live in Georgia (US), no kids, five cats. I’m actually a sucker for animals…I would take in every little homeless whatever if I could! I’m the girl who would pick up the frog. 🙂 I draw the line at spiders or scorpions, though!
I grew up on the beach in southeastern North Carolina…the town is called Oak Island, about midway between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. It is rather small…my high school was 900 people total! I went to NC State for college, which has about 35,000 students. That was a very welcome change, because I was able to break out of my shy shell. I used to be rather smart in school-I’ll let you decide if I still am. 🙂
I am very interested in religion (all kinds), entertainment, and people in general. I like to write about my thoughts, or lack thereof . 🙂 Sometimes I can come off quite bitter and ranting, but most of the time I have a sense of humor and am pretty tolerant of other points of view. When people start getting hurt, that’s where I draw the line. In real life, I am too nice for my own good. As I am a Christian I will try not to swear or act like a jerk, but I’m not making any promises.
I am normally very friendly and can’t stand snobbishness, racism, sexism, or any other kind of ‘-ism’. Also, I have bipolar disorder…I lean more toward depression than mania. I mention this because I talk about it in some posts. Most posts are in the ‘editorial’ vein, including general ‘people’ or social topics. I also write poetry. My sense of humor can be rather silly and sarcastic…many things I post will have language that is not safe for work or for children.
Enjoy!

Thank you for following “A Way With Words.” My joy in writing is made more complete when people read what I’ve written, and even more as they respond.
I write mainly on faith and mental illness but am known to dabble on other subjects, stories, and even the occasional poem. If you have any requests, please contact me.
I appreciate what you have going on your blog here. It looks as though we have many common interests. May God bless your life and writing, as you bless others.

Thanks! You seem a lost smarter than me, but that isn’t very hard to do. 🙂
I’ve just recently begun to work on my blog more…I’d love to hear what you have to say on the post about how to be a good friend to someone with bipolar disorder and the stigma around it, as well as the others…being a pastor who also has the disorder, I’m sure you’ve seen the negative effect it has on people who are seriously seeking God but are told that He’s “unavailable” because of your lack of faith or believing the “wrong” things.

I will be glad to take a closer look at your posts and comment. It is sad when people with troubled minds are discouraged from seeking God. In many ways, I think many of the prophets in Scripture would be labeled mentally ill were they alive today.

I think so too…
Or even if they’re not discouraged from seeking Him, but they can’t feel His presence when they do. Few things can make you feel worse than thinking that God has left you/doesn’t love you anymore/etc no matter what you do.

A fellow North Carolinian, nice to meet, read and follow your blog. I am not sure if I am totally BP, but I can understand where a lot of the reasons and symptoms spawn from.
You have an awesome blog, and we are happy to have read the reblog.

Shannon,
It seems that we have quite a few things in common – OTHER THAN our WordPress blog theme. LOL 🙂
This is how I found you by searching for others having questions about The Elegant Grunge Theme.
If you don’t mind me asking, would you be willing to help/guide/answer a few questions about your blog theme?
I’m trying to set up a few things on my site, and I’m not quite sure how to do it.
I appreciate the consideration.
Thank you.

After I sent my comment, I started playing around with my widgets, and I may have figured it out. LOL
This blogging is all so new to me. LOL
I have to realize that certain themes don’t allow certain things.
However, I love The Elegant Grunge Theme, and I would rather not change. 🙂

Same here. And someone on the support forum did answer me in regards to finding a way to add fonts, but it involved buying the domain name (?) from WordPress and I can’t afford to spend much right now.
I’m on a Mac…I wonder if that matters.

Please tell me how!
Oh!
Yes, I won’t be buying anything at the moment.
Me neither.
I’m on a PC. 🙂
I’m learning each day something new. LOL

I was trying to see if I could find a fonts plugin but I couldn’t find one that worked with Elegant Grunge…it gave instructions about how to install them but this theme doesn’t have any of those options. Ugh.

Ugh!
I know!
I’m starting to realize that certain themes do not allow certain things.
I’m assuming to use plugins that we must pay for the WordPress?
Or am I incorrect?
I love The Elegant Grunge Theme. I was playing around with other themes, and they do not seem to suite me?
So, I’m just going to stick with my choice. 🙂
In my class, no one else choice this theme, which was surprising?
So, I’ve become more familiar and comfortable with the format after 5 + months.
However, there are some great “free” themes to choose from! 🙂

I did change my theme because I got bored, but the free themes on wordpress.com don’t seem to have additional fonts. I found a way you could use them “from the back end”…
Go to the HTML section and add them in using tags-
Text
If you want to change the size-
Text The sizes are 1-7.
Here are some of the font names if you’re not sure what you want to use-
http://www.wavian.com/font-list.html
These sites have a few extra tags…I’m no expert at all but I was told to look at them.
http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/common-html-tags.html

I hope this helped. It’s not much, but at least it’s something.

I like Capresio (I think that’s the name, anyway)…but I don’t see why we wouldn’t be able to add fonts on the back end. You’d have to type the tags in at every post in the html section, but we do the same thing with links anyway. At least, I do, so they look the way I want them to.

May I ask another question?
How do you get followers and promote your blog?
I would like to expand my audience, but I am clueless how to do that?
Any suggestions? 🙂

Hi there, I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog.
I’m also apart of the Mental Health Writers Guild, and I have a new project coming up which I hope you’d be interested in working on.
https://bylaurenhayley.wordpress.com/the-mental-health-art-auction/
The Mental Health Art Auction needs YOU, to post about your experiences, raise awareness, and promote the auction that will happen in August.
The auction will feature a piece of art put together by myself, which will reflect how each and every blogger taking part feels about mental health. What it means to them. This is an opportunity to get more people talking, and hopefully raising a lot of money for charity. Please check out the link and let me know if you’re interested 🙂

Sorry I’ve just seen this. The posts will be about your personal experiences, why you’re taking part etc. Nothing too out of the ordinary from what you usually write about. However we will also need you to mention the auction a bit and try and get any other bloggers that you know on board. The more people that know about it, the more people that will be interested in the sale of the art at the end.
